Following pre-clinical training at Cambridge University and clinical training at Oxford University Dr Nicholas Craven qualified in medicine in 1989. He subsequently trained in Dermatology in Manchester, and was a lecturer in dermatology at the University of Manchester from 1994 to 1999. After consultant posts in East Lancashire and East Cheshire he moved to University Hospitals of North Midlands​ in 2010. He is the Clinical Lead for the Department of Dermatology, and has interests in management of skin cancer, dermoscopy of pigmented lesions, contact dermatitis and severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions.
