Record number of staff vaccinated at UHNM

The Infection Prevention team at University Hospitals of North Midlands are celebrating after vaccinating more than 89% of the entire workforce against flu. A team of vaccinators worked throughout the trust's two hospital sites to help protect staff and patients with Chief Executive Tracy Bullock, herself a trained nurse, lending a hand in administering the vaccinations.

Emyr Phillips, Deputy Director for Infection Prevention, said: "It is very important that our patients and member of the public feel safe and secure when they come into hospital. We have very robust processes in place for preventing and controlling infection at UHNM and our team is highly trained in being able to combat any threats to patient and public health. Our staff are routinely vaccinated every year and the Trust puts the care of its patients and staff first at all times."

This year sees the highest ever number of staff vaccinated at UHNM.

Michelle Rhodes, Chief Nurse, said: "I'd like to offer my congratulations and my thanks to the vaccination team for their hard work once again this year. As health professionals, we need to protect those who are most vulnerable and by getting the flu jab, it dramatically reduces the risk of the virus being spread in our hospitals. It's wonderful to see that so many of our staff have done this and are truly Proud to Care."
