UHNM praised at national thoracic conference

UHNM's Lung Cancer Group presented five abstracts at the British Thoracic Oncology Group's (BTOG) annual conference recently in Dublin. The team's work focussed on real world experience of lung cancer diagnostic and treatment pathways and will help improve to national guidelines as well as encourage staff to get involved with research.

Dr Apurna Jegannathen, Consultant Oncologist, said: "The informational posters we provided were much appreciated and UHNM was well recognised. I feel proud to experience this at a national level and to be able to demonstrate the potential we have as a trust. This shows we are capable of raising the barr even higher in the field of research for lung cancer."

BTOG is the multi-disciplinary group for healthcare professionals involved with the treatment of thoracic malignancies throughout the UK and Ireland.

UHNM was represented by Dr Apurna Jegannathen, Consultant Oncologist, Dr Giridharan Selvaraj, Consultant Oncologist, Dr Imran Hussain, Consultant Chest Physician, Dr Shahul Khan, Consultant Chest Physician and Dr Iftikhar Sana, Respiratory Clinical Fellow.
