Patient deaths - COVID-19

As of 31 March 2020 we will no longer be confirming individual deaths at Royal Stoke University Hospital or County Hospital, Stafford. These will be announced by NHS England. 

Announced 30 March 2020

John Oxtoby, Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died."

"A 81-year-old female, and an 83-year-old male, with underlying conditions, died on Saturday 28 March 2020."  

"Both families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

 

Announced 22 March 2020

John Oxtoby, Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died."

"The patient, 73, who had underlying health conditions, died on Friday 20 March."

"His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

"The patient, 51, had underlying health conditions and died on Friday 20 March.

"His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

"The patient, 89, had underlying health conditions and died on Friday 20 March.

"His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

Announced 27 March 2020

John Oxtoby, Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that two patients who were being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.

"A 79-year-old man, had underlying health conditions and died on Thursday 26 March.

"And a 75-year-old man, also with underlying conditions, died on Wednesday 25 March.  

"Both families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

"The patient, 67, had underlying health conditions and died on Thursday 26 March.

"His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

 

Announced 29 March 2020

John Oxtoby, Medical Director at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that three patients who were being cared for at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.

"An 85-year-old man, an 88-year-old female and a 77-year-old female, had underlying health conditions and died on Friday 27 March 2020.

"All families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."
