Cardiac Rehabilitation
The cardiac rehabilitation department at University Hospitals of North Midlands provides cardiac rehabilitation services to individuals throughout North Staffordshire.
The department comprises a team of healthcare professionals including nurses, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, with the assistance of pharmacists, doctors and consultants.
Cardiac rehabilitation is offered at a variety of venues throughout North Staffordshire, allowing patients the convenience of attending exercise sessions closer to home. In 2013-2014 49% of patients were offered rehabilitation within two miles of their home, and 79% of patients offered rehabilitation within four miles of their home.
Completion of cardiac rehabilitation with the team at University Hospitals of North Midlands has been linked with a 20% reduction in cardiac readmissions within one year of a cardiac event.
The team has also been recognised nationally through the Patient Safety Awards.

Cardiac rehabilitation at University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust operates within a large variety of venues throughout Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. By using community-based venues we are able to offer cardiac rehabilitation exercise sessions that are easily accessible and much closer to home. We also offer the option for you to continue your exercise regime independently at your chosen venue following completion of cardiac rehabilitation for a reduced membership cost.
