Health Library (Stoke on Trent)
The Trust now operates two libraries:
Health Library for North Staffordshire at the Clinical Education Centre in Stoke on Trent. This library is operated in partnership with Keele University and other North Staffordshire NHS organisations.
Library, Education and Resource Centre at the Post-Graduate Medical Centre in Stafford.
The two libraries will have to continue to operate their existing library management systems (LMSs) for the short-term future. These systems are not linked to each other in any way. Library staff at each site will not have access to each others' systems.
Joining the Library
Staff working at either site (Stoke on Trent or Stafford) can join either library. Complete the relevant application form and go to the main counter with your NHS ID badge to join.
Managing Your Library Accounts
Users are responsible for managing their different library accounts. As the libraries will be operating their existing LMS, library staff at each site will not have knowledge of or access to your library accounts at both libraries.
Using the Library
You can borrow books from either library you are a member of.
Where possible please return items to the library from which you borrowed them.
You can renew your books online or contact the relevant library you have borrowed the items from.
Requesting an Inter-Library Loan

NHS Athens Username / Password
The library service will eventually operate only one NHS Athens organisation. This is currently listed as UHNS.
The Mid-Staffs Athens organisation ID will cease to exist on 30th June 2015.
Staff who previously worked for Mid-Staffs and are transferring to UHNS employment, who currently hold a Mid-Staffs Athens account may re-register for a UHNS Athens account.
Any new requests for Athens accounts from 1st November (2014), if eligible, will be given UHNS Athens accounts or referred to the appropriate Athens administrator.
UHNS staff cannot register for a Mid-Staffs Athens account as this will cease to exist once current subscriptions have expired.
Access to eResources
Over time, as subscriptions come to an end, there will be a re-alignment of electronic online resources.
As far as possible, eresources which are covered by the joint library service will be made accessible via the NHS Athens account.
A small number of resources may be limited to individual networks or departments.
Please see the website for your "home" library for the training on offer.
