​Dr Martin Allen's areas of expertise include respiratory medicine, specifically sleep and ventilatory support. His areas of interest are all aspects of sleep medicine, managing COPD general respiratory medicine, re-design of services and teaching.  Moving from a consultant post in Bradford, he joined University Hospitals of North Midlands​ in 1996 as a consultant physician and has been involved in the development of many aspects of respiratory medicine at the Trust. He has a role in education at both undergraduate level and at postgraduate via extensive links with the British Thoracic Society/ Department of Health.
