NIV Critical Care & Regional Weaning Centre
The NIV Critical Care & Regional Weaning Centre at the Royal Stoke University Hospital is a 29 bedded Nurse Led critical care unit, comprising of 20 level 2 critical care beds specialising in Non Invasive Ventilation and Tracheostomy weaning and 9 Respiratory beds, based within an acute respiratory ward. Our acute service takes referrals Trust wide from the emergency portals, critical care, deteriorating ward based patients and patients direct from clinic or home.
We pride ourselves on providing education and support on all aspects of NIV (Non-Invasive Ventilation) and Tracheostomy care to our patients and their carers to enable safe, but independent living. We provide an on-going domiciliary NIV service with CNS expertise and a 24 hour helpline with technical support. We currently have over 900 patients on Home NIV.
We are a recognised tertiary centre for NIV and complex Tracheostomy weaning, taking referrals from other Acute Trusts and Critical Care facilities and we feel privileged to have recently been awarded Motor Neurone Disease Association Care Centre Status enabling us to provide co-ordinated, holistic care to our patients.
We provide an invaluable In Reach service Trust wide for patients requiring assessment and initiation of NIV, or supportive care and advice, enabling timely and correct intervention when the patient needs it most.
We are a passionate, dedicated team, committed to delivering patient centred care of the highest standard and a firm belief in the multi-disciplinary team approach. If you are passionate about changing lives for the better, then come and join our culturally diverse Team and help us make a difference.
