Garden Party Honour for Consultant Geriatrician
UHNM consultant geriatrician Dr Amit Arora joined six invited guests from the British Geriatrics Society and others to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
Dr Arora, who is Vice President for Workforce at the BGS, said he was honoured to have been a guest and attend on behalf of the BGS, where the King is a patron.
At UHNM Dr Arora launched the Sit Up, Get Dressed and Keep Moving campaign which has now been adopted by the BGS and in his role nationally he supports and develops the diverse multidisciplinary workforce to make further improvements in the care of older people.
He said: “It was such an honour to be invited to one of the Royal Garden Parties and while I didn’t personally meet any of the family I did see Prince William and Princesses Eugine and Beatrice.
“Sadly because the weather was so wet and soggy, despite it being 25 degrees the before, guests weren’t allowed to walk through the Palace to the gardens as normal so I missed out on that but the gardens were spectacular and the food delicious!”
He added: “Despite the weather, it was a hugely memorable day and was definitely a once in a lifetime event which I will never forget.”
