Hard-working Amber receives Employee of the Month
A junior doctor who has made a “massive impact” on her new team has been awarded UHNM’s Employee of the Month.
Amber Ahmed-Issap, a Foundation year two (FY2) doctor, has been praised for her contributions to Royal Stoke’s Heart Centre.
Amber’s work ethic has been described as “the best I’ve ever seen”, by Miss Udo Abah, Consultant Thoracic Surgeon, who nominated her for the award.
Miss Abah said: “Amber recently joined our team in Cardiothoracic Surgery, and in addition to excellent clinical work, she has a massive impact on the department in the areas of education, clinical governance and research.
“Amber has led in the establishment of a regular weekly teaching programme for our junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals, and has also assisted in the running of an external study day for the entire department. She has also taken over the responsibility of the junior doctor rota, and assisted in the local induction of new clinical fellows at UHNM.
“She has led in the introduction of a new electronic ward round in the department, transitioning from a paper-based system.
“She has also shown exceptional skills in research, having worked closely with myself to establish a large database for thoracic surgery. Amber has had four papers for the department published in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented three times nationally on behalf of the department, with many more regional and local presentations and a number of publications in the works.
“Her work ethic is the best I have seen in my career to date, and I’m delighted she is receiving the recognition she deserves.”
