Recruitment Manager Emily wins national ‘Rising Star’ award

Emily Foxall, Recruitment Manager at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM), has been named the Healthcare People Management Association’s (HPMA) Rising Star of the year.

Emily received the award in recognition of her innovative approach in introducing new recruitment campaigns and initiatives to UHNM.

She beat eight other candidates to pick up the award at a HPMA ceremony in Belfast last week.

Reflecting on her win, Emily said: “I was fortunate to be offered external developmental coaching organised through UHNM’s People and Organisational Development team, who recommended I celebrate our team’s successes and positive impact more, as this is a really big part as my role as a leader. So, I nominated the team and myself for these awards, not thinking for a second we’d be shortlisted.

“I feel the main reason that I won is innovation. Part of my role when joining UHNM was to be able to bring in some new practices, whilst streamlining and getting the basics right. We’ve tried to be really innovative with social media, and bringing in new campaigns and initiatives. Colleagues nominated in this category had all focused on innovation, and we needed to realign ourselves with this as an NHS Trust.

“I’m very proud, still shocked, and completely honoured to have won, as some of the people in this category were incredible. The awards took place in Belfast at the HPMA’s headquarters, which was an amazing evening and amazing to meet all these people across the NHS and learn about the projects they are working on.”

Jane Haire, Chief People Officer at UHNM said: “This is a hugely important and prestigious award for the People profession, recognising the contribution of people practitioners within the healthcare setting across the whole country. We are exceptionally proud of Emily and the work that she has been doing across UHNM.”
