Royal Stoke security officer nominated for national award
The Security Team at Royal Stoke are celebrating after a security officer was shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
Becky Morton-Hand was a finalist in the Outstanding Female Security Professional category at the Outstanding Performance Security Awards (OSPA’s).
Becky, who has worked at Royal Stoke for 15 months and is UHNM’s only female security officer, says she was shocked to have received the nomination from management.
She said: “My role can be challenging, both physically and mentally, but I enjoy it and work with a good team.
“I’ve been doing security on a freelance basis for about five years, having previously worked on events like music festivals and even the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Living locally, it made sense for me to apply for a full-time role with Sodexo at UHNM.
“I was shocked to learn that my management had put together a two-page nomination on all my achievements since joining. This was a new category, and unfortunately didn’t win but it was amazing experience for me and the team who came to support me.”
