UHNM nursing assistant receives employee of the month award
A nursing assistant from University Hospitals of North Midlands has been recognised with an award for her compassion after treating a palliative patient.
Celia Heatley from the short stay unit on Ward 233 at Royal Stoke was nominated for the Trust’s Employee of the Month award for caring for a palliative patient and their family during a difficult time. Her nomination also highlighted how Celia shows passion for her job; goes the extra mile for every patient under her care and is always there to help.
Nursing assistant Charlotte Morris nominated Celia and said: “Celia was helping me to look after a palliative patient. She was new to the role and couldn’t have done more for the patient. She was amazing and nothing was too much to ask. Celia shows compassion whilst staying professional. Congratulations to her on receiving this award!”
The award was presented by Dr Matthew Lewis, Medical Director, he said: “I think what Celia has done has been fantastic. Looking after a patient under her care and showing real compassion and kindness and also giving comfort to the members of the family at that time is a fabulous example to other members of staff in the Trust.”
Celia said: “I’m so shocked to receive this award. It’s just human nature for me to do something like I did. It’s amazing to be recognised like this.”
