UHNM shortlisted for four Nursing Times Awards
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is proud to announce it has been shortlisted in four categories at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards.
• Best Workplace for Learning and Development
• Preceptorship Programme of the Year
• Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff
• Best Employer for Staff Recognition and Engagement
UHNM’s Centre for NMAHP Research and Education Excellence (CeNREE) was shortlisted in both the Best Workplace for Learning and Development and Best Employer for Staff Recognition and Engagement categories following nominations by Dr Alison Cooke, Assistant Director of Nursing, Research and Academic Development and CeNREE Lead at UHNM.
Dr Cooke said: “The CeNREE team has so far supported more than 170 nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals (AHPs) from across UHNM to pursue research, academic and professional development opportunities, and these nominations were for the whole of the CeNREE team who lead on all these fantastic developmental opportunities that we offer to our staff.
“I feel so excited that UHNM is recognised for the importance that its Executive Team is placing on making sure that staff feel valued and recognised and are being offered developmental opportunities through CeNREE.”
UHNM’s Preceptorship programme was also shortlisted for Preceptorship Programme of the Year thanks to a nomination by Dr Cooke.
Stella Underwood, Lead Nurse for Post Registration and International Recruitment at UHNM said: “The team are delighted to have been nominated for the award and recognised for the hard work we have put in to ensuring our staff are supported during their 12 month preceptorship period. We currently have about 450 people on the preceptorship programme which supports both newly-qualified and international nurses. We are a new team and have worked hard over the past 12 months to ensure that there is a robust support network in place for our newly qualified nurses and our international nurses. Ensuring that these staff feel supported is crucial as the first 12 months after qualifying can be very daunting for many people, especially those who have joined us from abroad.”
UHNM was also shortlisted in the Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff category, recognising UHNM’s Quality Strategy.
Ann Marie Riley, Chief Nurse at UHNM said: “I am honoured and thrilled that UHNM has been shortlisted in four categories in the Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards, including Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff. We wouldn’t be able to provide the exceptional levels of care that we do without our nursing workforce, and this nomination is a credit to their hard work and dedication.”
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in November.
