Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine which deals with the diseases and surgery of the visual senses, including the eye, brain, and areas surrounding the eye, such as the eyelids. The Ophthalmology department at University Hospitals has seven Consultant Ophthalmologists, and the eye service is supported by the Orthoptic Department, Optometrist, and Low Vision Refraction Service.
