The North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology service (NMCPS) is responsible for Pathology services across North Staffordshire and South Cheshire. It operates laboratories at the Royal Stoke, County, Leighton and Macclesfield hospital sites.
Following the NHS Improvement (NHSI) Initiative to establish 29 Pathology Networks, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (MCHFT) and East Cheshire Trust (ECT), have been working with the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) to form a Pathology Network.
On the 1st of December 2020 the network was formally established as the North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS) a division of UHNM
On 1st April 2021, University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) became the legal entity responsible for the provision of Pathology Services within MCHFT and to ECT and any other organisations for which they have an agreement for the delivery of Pathology Services.
