Analysis cannot be performed on samples received in boric acid (red top) bottles

 

Turnaround Time:

Within 24 hours

Background:

Assessment of glomerular function in patients with diabetes mellitus or hypertension

first morning urine sample is recommended.  If urine is too dilute, the ratio cannot be calculated.

Reference ranges:

Age range Reference range (mg/mmol)
All ages/sexes <1 - 3

Results outside the reference range do not necessarily indicate disease. Similarly, results within the reference range do not preclude abnormality. Please contact the Duty Biochemist for discussion of individual patient results
