Background:
Tumour marker used in monitoring ovarian cancer and in determination of risk of malignancy index of ovarian carcinoma
Symptomatic women with CA125 > 35 kU/L should be referred for pelvic ultrasound (NICE CG122).
CA125 may be raised in benign conditions including pregnancy, endometriosis, menstruation, ascites, pancreatitis, cirrhosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, as well as any advanced adenocarcinoma.
