Cancer antigen 19.9

Background:

Tumour marker used to monitor pancreatic carcinoma following curative resection

CA19.9 may be raised in benign conditions including pancreatitis, jaundice, cirrhosis, cholangitis and cystic fibrosis. CA19.9 within the reference ranges does not exclude pancreatic or hepatobiliary tumours.

Results outside the reference range do not necessarily indicate disease. Similarly, results within the reference range do not preclude abnormality. Please contact the Duty Biochemist for discussion of individual patient results.
