Requirement:

Rectal swab, COPAN swab - purple top available from virology.

Please note Charcoal swabs are unsuitable for this test and will not be processed.

Please ensure that visible faecal material is present on the swab.

Turnaround Time:

1 day

Dectection of OXA-48, VIM, IMP-1, NDM and KPC carbapenemases in rectal swabs.

Other Comments:

If processing is delayed, refrigeration is preferable to storage at ambient temperature. Delays of over 24 hours are undesirable
