Collection container : Amies swab with charcoal -use thin wired swabs where possible.
Special instructions - Relevant clinical data and details of recent or current antimicrobial treatment must be provided:
Provide specific clinical details e.g. otitis externa, otitis media, presence of discharge etc.
Specimen transport: If processing is delayed, refrigeration is preferable to storage at ambient temperature
