Fibrinogen is converted to fibrin during blood clot formation.
Fibrinogen levels should be monitored in patients who have disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and those who have suffered a massive haemorrhage
Other Comments:
Reference range: 1.9 - 4.8 g/L (from 02/07/2020)
Samples more than 24 hours old cannot be accepted.
Fibrinogen can be added to a previous sample if less than 24 hours old
