Requirement:

COAGULATION TUBES MUST BE FILLED TO LINE.

For the diagnosis of thrombotic conditions where there is thrombotic history of individual or within family. Please speak to the coagulation laboratory at RSUH on 74396 before requesting these tests

 

Turnaround Time:

Up to 4 weeks

Protein C is tested as part of the thrombophilia screen.

Protein C deficiency leads to an increased risk of thrombosis.

Other Comments:

Reference range:    70-140

Four citrate tubes are required for a full thrombophilia screen.

Warfarin therapy must be withdrawn eight weeks before thrombophilia screening.

Heparin and new oral anticoagulants e.g Rivaroxaban, Apixoban, must be withdrawn two weeks before thrombophilia screening.
