The reticulocyte count is a measure of immature RBCs circulating in peripheral blood.

An increased reticulocyte count may indicate haemolytic anaemia, blood loss or a response to haematinic therapy.

A reticulocyte count should only be requested in conjunction with a full blood count (FBC).

Other Comments:

Reference range:     10-100 x10^9/L (0.2-2.0%)

Reticulocytes may be added to a previous FBC request if the sample is less than 48 hours old
