Native or heparinised whole blood

Discard the first 2-3ml of blood, which contains tissue contaminants. Test sample immediately after being drawn to minimise preactivation of the sample. Native whole blood taken into a syringe. Transfer the blood gently from the syringe to a polypropylene tube. Avoid air bubbles and frothing. The test should be started as soon as possible after venepuncture. Heparinised whole blood taken into a syringe
