What to expect
Currently diagnostic equipment collection appointments are being done in a group setting, of up to 4 patients. Equipment will be issued that will need to be returned the next day or in two days’ time dependant on device being given by either yourself or someone on your behalf.
Be prepared to have measures of height, weight, neck size and Epworth sleepiness score (ESS) at most appointments.
Your results will be discussed at a future appointment with a Sleep Medicine Consultant or Specialist Healthcare Professional. You will be asked about your current symptoms and your past medical history, including a full list of current medications. Treatment options will be discussed and a further appointment will be arranged where necessary.
If you attend for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) initiation appointment, we will demonstrate use of CPAP, identify the most appropriate interface & fitting of a mask and educate you on all aspects of CPAP. You will have a chance to ask questions and have any concerns addressed. You will leave this appointment with a loan CPAP with completed loan agreement in a travel bag, tube & mask, patient handbook and a further review appointment.
At any future CPAP review appointments are likely to be done via a telephone consultation and we will access your CPAP data remotely where applicable, however, if these appointments are face to face please arrive 10-15 mins prior to the appointment and bring your CPAP device and mask interface with you - we will need to download the SD card to check your compliance.
