Katharine Lewney, Academic Development Officer
Katharine is an Academic Development Officer who is passionate about creating a culture of research throughout UHNM. Katharine is a registered paediatric nurse who has worked in research for over 12 years with experience of recruiting patients to observational and randomised controlled trials.
Katharine is currently studying for a PgCert in Research Methods for Health. She has also completed training in Designing and Moderating Focus Groups. Katharine enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and this has led her to become a training facilitator for the NIHR WM and West Midlands Research Training Collaborative (WMRTC).
Katharine has experience in supporting research idea development, literature searching, identifying appropriate research funding streams, grant application development (including project costing), patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE), building a research team to ensure the necessary skill mix required to undertake a project successfully, liaising with UHNM support services including; pharmacy, imaging and biochemistry and navigation of the research process (including internal peer review and sponsorship).
Katharine is always happy to have informal chats to discuss how NMAHPs can get involved with research and the support that she can offer.
