Timeline of the procedure and FAQs

07:00 - 08:00      Patient attends the ward and gets checked in by the ward nurses

08:00 - 08:30       Patient reviewed by the clinical team and confirms their consent to the procedure

08:30 - 09:00       Patient transferred to the operating theatre

09:00 - 09:30        Start of surgery 60 - 120 minutes to complete the hysterectomy

10:00 - 11:30        Patient transferred to the recovery area

11:30 - 12:30        Patient transferred back to ward  for discharge in 6 - 8 hours

Your questions answered

Surgical time can be variable depending on extent of disease on the bowel, bladder, pelvic side wall and if it is combined with removal of womb (Hysterectomy) , The average time would be between 2 to 3 hours.

 

Participants can withdraw from the study after randomisation but would not affect the treatment schedule.

Recovery time would be approximately 4 to 8 weeks (depending on the extent of surgery) All participants will be counselled about the approximate recovery time.

Participants are given open access to Surgical Assessment Unit for two weeks post-surgery where they can self-refer, and they will have contact number of Endometriosis Nurse.
