About us
Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke was launched 20 March 2020 providing a designated specialist centre for treating children and young people across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and surrounding areas. This hospital within a hospital is part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) Royal Stoke site where we are proud of our new status and the opportunities that it will bring over the years to come.
Under the umbrella of Staffordshire Children’s Hospital we provide a dedicated children’s emergency department, two regional intensive care units and a regional high dependency unit. We have also two children’s wards for medical and surgical patients also caring for children under a number of specialist paediatric services.
We have built a reputation for providing first class health services relating to a range of common childhood problems, injuries and conditions.
Young patients have access to specialist clinical teams and their expertise, who care for children with complex conditions or medical problems. Many of these specialty areas are at the forefront of treatment in the UK which has led to a growing international reputation for excellence.
Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at Royal Stoke is a centre of excellence in many disciplines and is more than a regional children’s centre and in many specialties equal to more well known children’s hospitals in other cities, including those in London.
What makes us different to other hospitals? We have on the same site:
• Access to Adult Services
• Multiple specialities under one roof
• Both Neonatal and Children’s Intensive Care Units and High Dependency Beds
• We have more than 100 general and specialist services for children and young people
Our specialist consultants, nurses and wider healthcare teams offer a wide range of diagnosis, treatment and support facilities for children and their parents.
As well as our recognised clinical services we also provide non-clinical services such as a
hospital school and arts and music therapy services. We have a number of Play Specialists who offer a wide variety of play-orientated activities and provide information for children and young people about their treatment.
